LAMRIM TEACHING DURING THE THIRD SPRING RELIGIOUS FESTIVAL IN LOSELING COLLEGE
Every year, during the Third Spring Religious Festival, the Khenpo gives teachings from the Lamrim Chenmo (Lama Tsongkhapa’s The Detailed Stages on the Path to Enlightenment) to the monks. After the daytime debate,
the Chabril invites the Khenpo to the debate courtyard and seats him on his throne. After prostrations by the monks, the Abbot starts the teaching and normally it begins by recitation of preliminary prayers like the Heart Sutra, mantra of Simhamukha and others. The Lama Zhunglenpa does the mandala offerings for the teaching. Teaching lasts from three to seven days and during his tenure of six years, the Abbot gives a full teaching of Lamrim Chenmo every evening during the Third Spring Religious Festival. This is considered an important religious activity for the Khenpo.
