EVENING SPECIAL PRAYER SESSION DURING WINTER RELIGIOUS FESTIVAL IN LOSELING COLLEGE
The session will begin by escorting the Abbot, by the assistant Disciplinary Master, to the assembly hall at which time the monks are not required to stand up, as they need to recite the Mantra of Tara. But they can bow their heads until he is seated on his throne. After the prayers, the abbot will recite the concerned topic for the day three times and the monks should listen attentively. While listening to the Abbot, they are to meditate on whatever topic they are going through and imagine the blessings falling upon them. After the teaching, the assistant Abbot will repeat the text once and the session will end with a declaration by the Abbot. Slowly, Tulkus and Geshes can leave the assembly giving formal respects to the Abbot. First year students should see the assistant Abbot after the session and, like the Abbot, he must recite the text three times to the students. After an attendance checking, the monks can leave for their respective residences. Normally evening special prayer session lasts until 1 or 2 a.m. Yet this is an important activity that is necessary to continue and improve without any shortcomings.
